Hello, ive switched off outgoing mail in macafee security, ive deleted and remade my account, rebooted the system, unchecked authentication, and i still get this error message when trying to send mail:

Subject '', Account: 'pop3.btinternet.com', Server: 'smtp.btinternet.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

It a timed out message.

Ive tried so many solutions and nothing!

I am on btinternet, it was working fine until a few days ago and has not been resolved since, i am currently job searching and need my outgoing email desperately!

hi chronic, welcome to CTH

I'm not sure why you've suddenly got this issue, other than having a check through windows defender (or whatever they call it in Vista). But there's two points to think about:
1) Btinternet requires you to check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and subsequently "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" - that often gets overlooked when re-installing the service
2) You can send through BT by using the web based mail service at http://bt.yahoo.com/ then logon with your primary account properties.

Hi,

First of all, what e-mail client are you using? I can then set up an account and try to send/receive mail, as I use BT too.

Also, double-check your settings as both POP and SMTP should be set as mail.btinternet.com but I see that your SMTP Server reading as smtp.btinternet.com.

BT settings are here. (http://www.btopenworld.com/faqs/manual_email_setup)
