I am not sure if the fault I have is in the right forum but here goes anyway.
I am having trouble with my pc in that I cannot get any sound coming from my pc at all. About 4 months ago I had a whining noise coming from my pc, I was told my fan needed cleaning so unplugged it from the back and cleaned it up. I replaced everything as I believed I took it out and when I switched on my pc there was no sound from my speakers. I have tried re-arranging all the connections in the back with no success. My speakers definatly work as I plugged them into my portable cd player and they worked fine. You can also hear a slight crackle when I plug the speakers into the back of the pc.
I tried running a trouble shooter and all the drivers say that they are working ok. It also said that I might need to alter the volume control and when I tried to do that from the link it gave me it said that there was no mixer available.
My pc uses a soundmax sound card and the operating system I am using is XP.
If anybody can help me I would be eternally gratefull.
Thanks in advance.
Phill.
