java is corrupt....

Hi all...
I need help. I keep getting this "Install on demand" screen for Microsoft Virtual Machine. I did the download, I don't know what this VM is exactly but I keep getting the screen. Still even after the dl. And, I got a message saying that my java is either corrupt or misinstalled. Says I should uninstall my IE6 and reinstall. But must uninstall IE first. Did this once before, no help. What is this "java software" and is it the same as "java 2 runtime enviornment" if same thing, should i uninstall? Help~~~!
