When I start my computer the following message pops up:

Could not initialize avg kernel interface.
Application cannot run.

I'm a senior lady who doesn't know a lot about antivirus programs.
Can someone help?

Thanks

Thank you for your response. I decided to remove AVG and get another program. Now I get a message saying that AVG installation failed. But when I try to remove it, I can't. The new program won't install as long as aVG is installed.
Any ideas?

Howdy:

Re-install AVG and then use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to remove it.

Now install your other av program.

That suggestion worked...for the AVG initializing error.

I uninstalled it but still can't get the new antivirus to load.

thanks for your help for the first problem tho.

I uninstalled it but still can't get the new antivirus to load.

Which av are you trying to install and what happens when you do - error message?
