I'm just curious. In the Windows update site one of the updates is called .NET Framework. I haven't downloaded this yet because I wanted to find out if it is something I really need and what are the benefits to having it, along with what it's purpose? So basically I'm asking should I or shouldn't I.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dndotnet/html/faq111700.asp After reading a little about it, What is the .NET Framework?
The Microsoft .NET Framework is a platform for building, deploying, and running Web Services and applications. It provides a highly productive, standards-based, multi-language environment for integrating existing investments with next-generation applications and services as well as the agility to solve the challenges of deployment and operation of Internet-scale applications. The .NET Framework consists of three main parts: the common language runtime, a hierarchical set of unified class libraries, and a componentized version of Active Server Pages called ASP.NET.
I would say unless you are a major company dealing with many languages, I would say no. Looks like a major utiltiy that would benifit a globial based company. IMHO
