If it's a new install, just re-install and write down your password. :)

What is the password for? Do you own the machine? What kind of password is it? We need a lot more information then you provided.

hello, well its an acquired machine running a VoIP program on a Linux base, i need to break the password to get to the drivers for the VoIP communication card installed. No other machine can find the drivers for it, this machine does but i can not search for the driver until i get passed the password

"aquired" does not mean you own it. We will not help you break the password of a machine you do not own. You still have not provided us with any kind of information that would allow us to help you.

acquired in this case, means bought off ebay, legitimately...but now having no way of contacting the previous owner. This machine was bought by my employer several years ago, the previous I.T tech had no knowledge of Linux, now, it seems, the machine is my project and my knowledge of Linux is miminal
