As far as installing Firefox, just download the installer and run it. It will detect your current settings and set-up Firefox to connect to the Internet with the same connection settings as IE. Both Firefox and IE will offer to check whether or not they are the default browser, and can make themselves your default.

You can't uninstall IE, so just leave it. If you updated from IE6 to IE7 you could revert to the old version, but I wouldn't advise it.

If you would like to try to repair your Flash installation, and you're pretty sure you want to install Firefox, I would install Firefox first and then re-install Flash. That way, both browsers will have Flash installed.

The first thing I would do is download the Flash Uninstall Program to my Desktop, then download the Install program to your Desktop too.
Shut-down your browser and then run the Uninstall program. Follow any prompts and then run the Install program.
