Hey all, I recently started my second year of college and I'm living in an apartment complex. My roommates and I bought a D-Link WBR2310 wireless router. We don't have a cable modem, as cable internet is provided and comes straight through the wall.
I have a macbook pro, but I used my roommates Dell running XP to set up the wireless network. I used the quick start guide that came with the router, and everything works fine. The signal strength is great and we are all able to connect. The program Network Magic was also installed in the process. This program helps you track/share/protect etc. your network.
The problem is that I need to encrypt it. It offers 128-bit WEP encryption, WPA-PSK, and WPA-EAP. I have read that D-Link routers usually use 192.168.0.1 as the native IP address thing, but when I enter that in the browser, nothing happens. I've tried numbers 1-13 for the last digit, and none of them bring up the Router Access screen.
When I run ipconfig on the dell on which I set up the router, I get 192.168.1.13 as the IP address, and 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway. I've tried both and neither works. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I would go about accessing my router settings, so that I can set up the encryption?
Thanks in advance,
Andy
