Hey guys, im new to this forum, so be nice, okay?

Anyway, my problem is the following:
1. I had Ubuntu installed on my labtop, dual-booting with XP.
2. After a while, I decide to remove Ubuntu
3. Being the rushing idiot that i am, i booted up the ubuntu install cd, and used gparted to remove the linux partition and restore my windows partition back to its 30 GB limit.
4. After that, i reboot, and find that GRUB is confused and spits out the "Error 22" message. In short, I'm going nowhere, fast.

I DO NOT have the XP installation cd, as my windows was preinstalled on my labtop. I've heard of this Emergency Boot CDs, but im too intimidated by their power to actually do anything here. I've also heard of somehow making a floppy with the Recovery Console, but the problem is I CAN'T BOOT INTO WINDOWS.

I would GREATLY appreciate your help. Thanks for hearing me out.

It's a Gateway 600YGR. It's about 6-7 years old.

You need to remove GRUB. Here's how:
"For Windows XP
In Windows XP, you can uninstall GRUB as follows:
Boot from the Windows XP CD and press the "R" key during the setup in order to start the Recovery Console. Select your Windows XP installation from the list and enter the administrator password. At the input prompt, enter the command "FIXMBR" and confirm the query with "y". The MBR will be rewritten and GRUB will be uninstalled. Press "exit" to reboot the computer."

Hope this helps.

If you can borrow a Windows XP cd from somebody, make sure that is is the same (like Windows XP home). Boot into recover and when you get to the command line enter

fix MBR

Oh hey guys, i solved the problem a couple of days ago. I just used the Super Grub Disk from this website (http://users.bigpond.net.au/hermanzone/SuperGrubDiskPage.html)
It was relatively easy, no pain, and it worked.
