Hi to all, great site, I hope you can help me?

A couple of weeks ago my integrated network card in my desktop gave up. I replaced it with a d-link card and away I went.

However now I find I am no longer able to access my home network that I had my pc & laptop on.

I cannot print from the laptop ( it has a wireless con. via a d-link router), nor can I share files.

I have tried to use the ms wizard to 'set up a home network' , it says it was successful but no network appears in my network places.

Can anyone help me out ????
Dave.

Hi Dave & welcome to DTH...

Lets see if we can narrow down the problem and go from there.

So it sounds like you have internet access through your wireless connection, but can't access your LAN. Also, you had this working at one point.

Can you 'ping' your pc from the laptop and vice-versa?
Also are both machines in the same workgroup? (See 'my computer'->properties)
What are you running for firewalls on both machines?

HI z1p, thanks for the reply.
1. I'll have to read up on how the ping'ing procedure goes, I'm not exp. in such things, then I'll give it a go and let you know what I find.
2. Yes, machines belong to the same work group.
3. I am firewalled through my security software provider,Shaw Cable .. Shaw Secure.( I am located in Canada).
Thx.
Dave

If you check out the 'read this post' link in my signature, it talks about pinging a little bit. Also, see here (http://www.google.com/notebook/public/07327408241860359792/BDRQnSwoQveC4tu8h) for other bits and pieces.
