Wireless Internet

Hopefully I am in the right place for this question. I am considering getting the card for my laptop to access the internet anywhere my cell phone works. Not fully understanding (or believing) the advertisements, my questions are as follows:
1. Is this as fast as my current DSL?
2. Will it work inside buildings and anywhere a cell phone works?
3. Is it adaptable to my desktop also where I could dump the DSL completely?
Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think this is a possibility. It's like saying you can take your laptop into the middle of the desert and still be able to connect to the internet.

In any case, wireless can be as fast as DSL depending on how close you are to the wireless network. I have a 54m wireless USB adapter and connect to my router which is about 30 feet away, and still download at 400kbps.

Wireless will only work in buildings or area that have a network you can only connect to. I think the new big thing is WiFi, which a lot of cafe's and other businesses are installing into their premises so people can connect through their laptops.

Either way, I've never heard of being able to connect "where ever your cell phone can." It sounds far fetched and even if it is possible, I'd imagine it'd drain your laptop five times as fast and the connection would be worse than 24k.
