I have an xp pro and an xp home machine in a workgroup together using a linksys wireless router
Both machines can see all the shares on the other.
The Pro machine can access the shares on the home machine only if extremely small (I havent figured out the exact size but its under 100meg).
For instance if I have several videos or mp3's in a shared folder when I try to open it I will get a long pause and then eventually the "share is not accessable you may not have permissions .....specified network name no longer available message". Though when the same folder is empty or has a text file or pic in it I can access it.
If I browse into an empty share ont he pro machine from the hom machine I can access the share but when I try to copy files over to the pro share get the same message.
Both in the same workgroup sharing enabled netbios enabled.
I turned off firewalls in both machines and router to no avail.
I can ping them both from eachother.
I put the same login with pw on both macines
enabled the guest account ont he home machine.
I tried enabling simple filesharing on the pro machine.
Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated
