Only Get 640 X 480 Display Properties/help!!!

I AM UNABLE TO GET ANYTHING BUT 16 COLORS OR BLACK AND WHITE OR 640 X 480-HOW DO I CHANGE IT TO 256 COLORS(I USED TO HAVE THIS OPTION) DO NOT KNOW WHAT I DID...HELPV

You should describe how this came about as well as identifying the components of your system for anyone to give you anything more than general comments.

Here are my general comments:
1. It sounds like you have "lost" the display drivers somehow and the default driver only supports 16 colors & 640 x 480 pixels.
2. You will need to identify the make & model of the Video Adapter & your OS before someone can point you towards the location of the drivers.
3. You may need to download & install a system analysis program like Aida32 to get the details of your system if you can't find them any other way.
4. Look in the Device Manager and see what it has to say about your video adapter & also see if there are any red or yellow markings against any of the devices,
