When I start up my PC, I can push delete to go to the BIOS screen. When I first got my PC I put in a password. I've forgotten the password to it. I was wondering if there was any way I can bypass the password so I can get back into the BIOS screen. I'm hoping there is some back door into it so I don't have to re-install Windows 98. Please Help if you can.

If what you are referring to is the BIOS setup, the only way(s) that I am aware of to clear the password are:
1) pull the CMOS battery off the motherboard for about 10 - 20 seconds
2) depending on the motherboard, there could be jumper settings to clear the CMOS

Are you referring to the bios. By clicking on delete during the startup process , it takes you to the bios screen, not the windows setup screen.

Pardon me for interrupting, but I have a similar problem. I haven't accessed my BIOS for over a year and when I recently tried to, it is asking for a password, all of a sudden. I know that I never set a password for this function. I tried to pull the battery, however that didn't work. I have a Pentium III, Intel 550 mgz, AMIBIOS, manufactured by TINY Computers.

Will I have to install a new BIOS? What the heck caused this to happen anyway? Unfortunately, I cannot pinpoint the time (nor what I was doing) when this happened. I'm getting nervous that something will happen which will require me to enter in this area, and I'll be out of luck. Can you help?
