reading ethernet

my computer wouldnt connect fully to any ethernet chords plugged into it and the modem or router so i refromatted, and it still wont read it, is it jsut broken? wil it work if i i isntall a wireless card?

What operating system are you using, and have you checked Device Manager (if Windows) to see if your network card is enabled?

i belive tis enabled because i see teh connection in network places but ill check again jsut in case
