Recover Outlook emails from failed drive?

Hello,
My WinXP drive died, but I can slave it and get to files... my question is can I recover the emails I had on the drive, are they stored as a single pst, or individually?

Outlook stores everything in one .pst file. Outlook Express stores in various .dbx files.

Look for "*.pst" (without the quotes, with the asterisk and dot) on the slave drive. Then use Outlook's File>Import to import what you want of it into the new installation.

yeah, thats what I thought, but I could not find one, even with "show hidden" was selected in advanced options... I am thinking it must have been a part of why the XP install finally folded, or just a victim. Oh well...

thanks for confirming!

Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" in Folder Options>View.

Then make sure that Search>Advanced Options has "Subfolders" checked.

The .pst file for Outlook is usually located in the following directory location:

C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

But like Miz said, you have to uncheck the hidden file/folder options in order to see it.
