:afro: Hello people! I have a very simple question for you all! I use AVG Internet Security 7.5, when I'm in Windows Explorer or I simply open my C: drive by clicking on the "My Computer" icon on my desktop, and RIGHT CLICKING on the file, I get an option called "Scan with AVG" along, next to "Copy" and "Paste" and "Delete". My question follows, does it do the scan for EVERYTHING, all of the malicious software, viruses, and spywares ect...? That is my question!

Thank you all for your help!

It will scan just that folder for anything that your anti-virus is set to pickup.

But will that option do the scan for everything? I download stuff from P2P and from different sites!
I Do Want to Scan That Particular One Folder!

It should scan for what ever you have your Anti-virus set to find.

How do I set it to find most of the things? I just got it, 4 hours ago!

If you right click a file or folder AVG only scans that file or folder with the virus files you have on your computer. You should update the virus definition files every day or two or have it set to automatic in the left hand Scheduler in the main AVG program window. It does not check for trojans or worms but may find some. You need other programs to find them like Spybot.
After right-clicking a file or folder and scanning and you see the popup with the "Finished" data there is a Display Test Configuration link which allows you to see the scanning parameters, like Use heuristic analysis or Scan inside archives. This popup is after the test, so if the parameters are not what you want, alter them (see below) and do another test. The "Finshed" data will list the number of files if you tested a folder.
If you want to change or check the test settings for a single file or folder, go to the top menu Tests/Selected area test settings from the icon on your desktop. The system tray icon only opens the Control Center, not the complete AVG window but you can click Test Center on the left to open the complete program window.
If you want to test your whole computer, open the AVG program from the icon on your desktop and go to the top menu Tests/Scan computer - complete test.
If you want to change or check the test settings for your whole computer, go to the top menu Tests/Complete test settings.

Thanx for your help! Can you suggest me an Internet Security that will do the scan for all of the above-mentioned threats, by default? I had Panda Internet Security 2007, it did exactly that, but I want to try something else! This is just not that quite easy to configure, and in Panda, I didn't have to do all of that! It was already set by default. Any internet securities that come in your mind? Paid versions please? Free ones; just suck, don’t do the job quite well as paid ones, on my point of view! Thank you for your help!!!

The experts in the Cyber Safety forum are recommending Spyware Blaster for spyware problems. It's free for personal use. I imagine they'll accept a donation, though.
