Sharing files from Desktop to Wirless Lapton on my Network

I have several files in a shared document folder on my desktop. I would like to share the entire folder with users of the laptop. If I right click it, there is no option for sharing. If I open the folder and right click any sub folder, then it will give the option to share. I have done this with several folders, but they do not show up on the laptop when I go to My Network Places. There is a folder named Home Network ( with the shall we say..pipe stand underneath) If I click on to open it I get the error message.. \\Your-4dacdoea75\shared docs is not accesable..Contact administrator. I am the admin.

Any suggestions from anyone?
