Cant log on without Network Diagnosis Help

Please can sombody help me!! I have a Netgear router. I do not use it wirelessly. Recently (last month) I can never directly log on Internet. I have to go through the network xp diagnosis bit, which firstly says 'Unable to connect' I then unplug power cable and run it again and it always connects? Everything is plugged in correctly. It seems as if I cannot connect without help from the diagnosis tool. Please does anybody have any idea whats wrong? I am including the diagnosis information, which of course I don't understand, but I know someone out there will! Thankyou

I'm not much good at reading logs (to many acronyms) .

I do have a few questions though. what type of connection do you have? adsl or cable?
Are you using a combination modem/router? Or is the modem a seperate piece of hardware? The reason I ask is that your default gateway address of 192.168.0.1 is usually the cable or dsl modem, the default gateway should be the router, which is generally defaulted to 192.168.1.1.

Anyway, try this: Right click on the network icon in your system tray, and click the repair option. See if that resolves the problem. If not, post your router make and model (I know its a netgear, I need the model). also open a command prompt, type in "ipconfig /all" without quotes and post the information. don't need the mac address or the lease info.

Madef, i believe ur post is valid, but i just wanted to add that, the default gateway o n the router could be 192.168.0.1 ive used a few dlink ones and they have that as default gateway and assign the ip as usually 192.168.0.1xx

"The following proxy configuration is being used by IE: Automatically Detect Settingsisabled"

im assuming the face it made was a d? as in disabled, im not sure but shouldnt it be set to enabled? i could be off base here tho

also it looks like the ip is off try MaDef suggestion, release ip the n renew ip i think it supose to be 192.168.0.1xx to follow ur default gateway,

if im wrong or no where close mod s just delete this lol

Hi there I am so sorry to have taken such a long time to acknowlege your kind reply, unexpected happennings. Anyway I did what you said ref; 'repair' but it did not work. I can log on everytime if I go through the procedure of Networks Diagnosis telling me I have problem with router. I then unplug cable for under 10 seconds and connectivity is restored. I have a Netgear ADSL wireless router DG834G. (I do not use it wirelessly) It was installed by my son, who lives in the South, and I live in the North It worked perfectly well for months and then suddenly this happenned . I would appreciate any further help. Els
