I there I accidentally wiped Windows XP from my PC and someone here suggested we give Linux a try. I down loaded it of line onto a cd. The CD starts up ok and gives me a list of options but when I try and boot it it says something like it needs a 32 bit.

Our system is fairly old, 5 years or so. Its a Time PC, AMD Athlon 2000 with 80 GB HD.

Any help here would be fantastic :D

Which distro did you download? Also, you need to download to your harddrive (desktop is fine) then burn as an ISO image to disk. Here's a tutorial on how to burn an ISO image to disk:

Most problems of this nature are related to a bad burn of the ISO. Hope this helps.

5 years isn't that old. Can you tell us exactly what the error it gives is? (32-bit...what?)
