i have a subscription to limewire and i used to be able to download songs. i cant even get on and play games over the internet, they wont connect. i used to have dial-up with aol. now i have dsl with windstream and i cant connect. i can connect of course to get on and search the web, but thats it. i read a little about it and it said i need to assign a port to my ip address or learn if the internet provider uses proxies. i called and they do use proxies. i dont know if anything i talked about it worth much, im not very computer savy.

If you can browse web pages then the problem is likely with the ISP, and it may not be a problem. If your ISP forces you to use a proxy, then you'll have to call them and get the information so you can use your programs. Although, I have never heard of an ISP forcing the use of a proxy, and in many places such things would be considered traffic filtering which is frowned upon.
