This is probably the dumbest question ever asked. I use Avast virus protection.

How do I test only one or a group of like files without having to do a total computer scan?

I see your question didn't get a response in the Cyber Safety forum m74731. A bit belated but let's move this over to the CTH Applications forum and see if someone there who uses Avast can give you that info.

It's not a dumb question at all m74731. I dont use Avast so I am not sure but some antivirus programs (AVG is one) have a rightclick option to scan a single file.

Try rightclicking on a file and tell us if Avast has the same option.
