trouble to get a portable cdrom working.

hi!
I need to install win 98 at a old laptop. PII-200,300 or something. Anyway. I didnīt have a cd-rom for it so I borrowed one from a friend. My trouble is that itīs connected thru the printerport and I canīt get it working. First I thought it maybe was some kind of a scsi interface, but I dismounted the cd-rom and it was ordinary ide interface.

would be happy for any help or answers =)

I've used an external CD drive like the one you're wrestling with and it required its installation floppy be run before it would work.

If your friend didn't supply you with the floppy for drivers for it, do a search online for the make/model of the CD drive and see what you can find...or post the make and model here and we'll see if we can provide more help.
