I have a linksys router and it allows me to choose between either b, g, or both .... if all my computers can get on the g frequency [which i read is faster], should i set it to just g?

The 802.11 b & g standards both operate in the 2.4 GHz bandwidth (vs. 'a' at twice that frequency); the main difference between b & g is the maximum speed, i.e. 11 mbs vs. 54 mbs, respectively - i.e. the 'g' standard can operate up to 5x faster (ideally) - so, if all of your 'wireless' computers can handle the 'g' standard, then certainly use that choice for the fastest connection; OTOH, if you're not sure, the Linksys router can be set to operate in a 'dual' mode and detect the connection speed between computer adapters - good luck.
