Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum (obviously by my post count), however I've googled the problem I've been having and it seems like the same thing this guy was experiencing. [http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102696] I've gone through all the above steps except verifying my subnet mask, however this is obtained automatically. Out of the 6 computers on our double routered network I'm the only one that cannot connect to any psu.edu sites. This is most disturbing because as classes are now starting I need to access sites such as cms.psu.edu. I could not ping www.psu.edu, and I could not do a tracert. Upon doing nslookup with the debug I received the following

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

As you can see... the weird part is I can ping psu.edu however actually typing just that into Firefox or IE yields nothing, same as inputting the ip address. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT>>
So I just typed ping cms.psu.edu accidentally into nslookup thinking I was back in the command prompt and received this:

Ok, so the problem is definately on my end... The same 6 computers have moved to the opposite side of town, we're on a different ISP and my specific PC is connecting to a new router. I still cannot access most psu.edu websites. Is it possible that this could be caused by a virus or worm?

>> I'm on Windows XP SP2, and the other 5 computers in my house are the same (I'm the only one that cannot access these websites just like in the old house). My computer used to access these sites no problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

James

I _thought_ I was connecting to new router, however it seems that I connected my Wii wirelessly to the router and the wii is experiencing the same thing. I guess it is a problem with the router. I will try to reset the router to factory defaults tonight. Unless there is a smarter way to clear the DNS tables? Doesn't really matter I guess since the router is basically at factory defaults anyway...

You can try to reset the factory defaults, but I don't think that will help. I want you to run some commands and post the full results from your command window.

start -> run -> "cmd" -> enter
ipconfig /all
ipconfig /flushdns
nslookup psu.edu (you should get a number of ip addresses)
nslookup cms.psu.edu

You are attempting to use PSU's nameservers from an off-campus location. This is no longer allowed. Use your ISP's nameservers instead.
