When WIN2K starts it automatically opens my When WIN2K starts it automatically opens my C:\Documents and Settings\nothing\My Documents folder. I can not figure out why. This just started and I did not make any changes within my system. I checked my start up file and msconfig. Any suggestions of where to look to stop this.

Hi rentonhighlands. I need to check your registry and perhaps make changes to it. So to save mucking about with regedit and regedt32, go here (http://www.petri.co.il/download_free_reskit_tools.htm) and download reg.zip. Extract the file to your System32 folder.

When you have done this, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following command in the below code box and click ok.

REG query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" > C:\look1.txt & start notepad c:\look1.txt

Your registry will be scanned and when finished, Notepad will pop up with some information. Copy and paste it in this thread.

Darn, ok delete that file and go here (http://h1.ripway.com/AnnieFriday/reg.zip) and download reg.zip. Extract the file to your System32 folder as before.

Try running the command now.

when I doubleclick the app it just flashes a quick screen and does not run anything.

Yes, that's normal. It's a command line utility.

I copy and paste the string in the run command nothing ever happened.

Make sure that you copy and paste everything in the code box.

Ah my bad rentonhighlands. I didnt post full instructions but I would still like you to download the new version of reg.exe. It's the XP version and can do more than the other. :)

I'll repost the correct instructions in full for you.

Go to Start > Run and type:

cmd.exe

and click ok. Copy and paste the command in the Code box after the prompt and hit Enter:

REG query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" > C:\look1.txt & start notepad c:\look1.txt

Your registry will be scanned and when finished, Notepad will pop up with some information. Copy and paste it in this thread.
