I have some unwanted programs listed. They are WinMX v3.22, ObjectDock Plus (this is the worst program ever!) Kazaa Media Desktop 2.0.2. I have uninstalled them or attemped to run the remove option from add and remove programs. I have searched my hardrive for folders containing the application name and any words associated with these programs. Why are they still showing in the list? And because they are there I know there is still a trace of them on my machine. I want to make sure they are uninstalled.

Hi rentonhighlands. No files or folders found? If so, it's probably just that the registry entries were not removed and this is not that uncommon.

Try this, go to Start > Run and type:

regedit

then OK.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall In the list of subkeys, you will see the names of all the programs that are in your Add/Remove programs list in Control Panel. If you have uninstalled any program and the subkey is still in your registry, select that subkey and delete it.

NB Always back up your registry before making any changes. The easiest way to do this is to select the entry that you are going to delete and go to File and choose Export. Send it to your Desktop and if you have no further problems, rightclick on the reg file on your Desktop and delete it. Do NOT doubleclick on the file unless you want to put it back in your Registry.

Darn, I just remembered when I was replying to your other topic, Win2k uses Regedt32 for most registry changes. Follow my above instructions but instead of typing regedit, type regedt32

I followed the above path and there is only one listing that is c:\Program files\WinRoll\uninstall.exe. Nothing else is showing. Is there a different place I should look?

oK I was hunting around in regedit and found this: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Unin stall> Here I found a listing for WinMX (a folder) It has a uninstall string in it. I go to the uninstall string and the folder is not there. It is not there because I deleted it. I believe if I remove the folder from the registry it will remove the folder from my list. Yep this is it. I deleted it and the folder is not gone. However I am not able to find anything that related to Kazaa. I looked thru tons of folders thinking that Kazaa would be named something different then Kazaa. Any ideas what it would be named? This is great forum for help!

Let's try this. Go here (http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/) and download Bill James' Registry Search Tool. Doubleclick on it to run it and type winmx in the search box. Let it run and after a few minutes, a prompt will appear. Click OK to write the results to Notepad, save the file and post the report.

Repeat but this time type kazaa in the search box.

yes, it's very handy. :)

Go here (http://h1.ripway.com/AnnieFriday/rh.reg) and download rh.reg to your desktop. Doubleclick on it and ok the prompt to merge with your registry. Reboot.

Have those entries in Add/Remove Programs gone now?
