For the last few weeks I have been trying to rectify this situation: Every time I go to print something I get an error message:" There was an error writting to LPT1:for the(BJC Cannon 255SP). A printer timeout error occurred. To increase the timeout settings for your printer,open.....etc."
I have gone and done that ,I have unistalled it and then reinstalled the printer driver, and still I get this message. The printer help menu cant fix it .The other thing is when you send something to the printer it makes the sond as if it is about to start printing about every 10 or so seconds, but still nothing happens. Can some one out there please see if you can help me . Thank you

Here ya go Danni.
Error writing to LPT1
Description
A message appears when attempting to print: "Error writing to LPT1"
Resolution
This is usually caused by a communication problem between the PC and printer.
Please check the following:
CABLE
The most likely cause of this problem is the cable between the PC and the printer. This cable may have become faulty or disconnected. Switch off PC and Printer, then disconnect & reconnect the cable at both ends. If the problem persists, try another parallel cable if possible.
PORT
This problem may also be caused by a defective parallel port, however this is far less common. The only reliable way to test whether the port is causing the problem, is either to test the printer on another PC, or test another printer on the first PC.
