I just bought a external hard drive and I was wanting to know is there a software that will lock the hard drive. I'm only going to be using it on my laptop and when I take my laptop and I'm gone I don't want anybody be able to hook up the HDD and look at my stuff.

See if anything on this page (http://pcwin.com/software/Removable_Drive/index-1.htm) suits your purpose.

If not, links to plenty of other resources start on this page (http://www.google.com/search?q=software+to+lock+external+drive&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7DKUS&start=0&sa=N).
