Direct connection

I have a question. I want to do a direct conenct between two usb ports on my computers. My first computer that I want to copy files from is a windows xp. The one that I want to copy files to is a 98se. I have gone throught the wizard and am confused. What port do i click, there are com 1 and com 3 on the xp. And on the 98se there are com 1 and com 2. How do I do this?
