newbie help plz

Help please!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a gateway laptop and i stupidly listened to my brother and reformatted -not usually a problem im told but somehow i managed to delete the recovery partition !
anyway i have managed to get xp back up and running and have manually reinstalled all hardware ( i think ) I am able to connect to the internet wired but unable to access wireless network . I have installed the network adapter and drivers intel pro wireless 2200bg and icon comes up in task bar but will not connect or even find the network -message states that no networks in range i have made sure wireless is enabled and spent hours messing with troubleshooters etc. even run the belking 54g discs i had with my router .I know wireless is working as it connects on my daughters pc
has anyone got any ideas please-i would be forever grateful

Since this is likely a laptop, look around on the computer to see if there is a button/switch/etc that enable the wireless radio. If there is a button for it, you'll likely have to download the software that controls if from gateway's website.

Sorry , read about info etc after I posted my message and as I am a newcomer to forums did not realise I could go back in and edit
Anyway thanks for advice -no switch or button found but went to gateway support and downloaded a load more drivers - went through device manager and tried updating all of them by trial and error - dont know how Ive done it and probably something will be wrong in the future but wireless is working !!!!! hurray .
