Computer memory and hard drive size are completely different things. Linux is spelled with an "i".
If you can read and follow instructions, then yes, you can run Vista side by side with Linux. If you have a hard time following instructions, I wouldn't recommend it. Don't do anything without making proper backups first.

I would like to add that it's important to do your homework first before you start. Here's a tutorial to get you started:
http://apcmag.com/5046/how_to_dual_b...nstalled_first There are many tutorials on dual booting, read a few to get the idea. Also, know your hardware before you begin. You may need to make selections during the install. As far as a distro to install, I would recommend Ubuntu Linux, it's the easiest to install and use(IMO) http://www.ubuntulinux.org/ Good luck and have fun.
