Almost a given these days for these players to support all of the DVD formats, play CDs, and even other discs, such as those w/ MP3 files. I recently bought a Yamaha multi-changer to play my CDs - decided to go w/ a DVD unit (just to have a backup) - been playing CDs & MP3 discs w/o a problem. Also own a 'stand alone' Sony DVD burner (love to record old movies off the TCM channel on my DVR and 'burn' them to disc) - have used different DVD media w/o a problem, and all have played on my Sony DVD/CD single player.
