Sorry for the duplicate post, because I've already posted this on the Windows XP forum, but it was suggested that I post it over here also.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm using Outlook Express for e-mail with Road Runner cable internet. The person I correspond with is using Comcast cable, and Outlook. Neither one of us has anything from Symantec installed on our computers.
For years I've corresponded with the same person by replying back and forth on a single e-mails numerous times throughout the day and night. Over the years the subjects have changed, but the number of replies has sometimes reached twenty.
A number of weeks ago after replying back and forth on the sixth reply from him I received this message with his reply as an attachment.
Please note that we have both e-mailed our ISPs and have been assured that they don't use Symantec to scan e-mails. We have also done testing by using our Gmail accounts to correspond, and we're able to do that without Symantec complaining.
What's even more baffling for me is that I tested things with another friend who uses Comcast, but who lives in another state from my other friend and I don't get the message from Symantec.
The other day a friend who was visiting her daughter in Ohio sent me something that contained numerous forwards, and it came to me with the Symantec message on top. This person was using Time Warner cable with AOL.
I've been all over the internet researching this problem, and even though I've found references to it, have not been able to come up with a reason or a solution.
I would appreciate it if somebody here can offer some suggestions or ideas as to what could be causing this.
Below is the message from Symantec.

This message has been processed by Symantec's AntiVirus Technology.

Unknown00000000.data was not scanned for viruses because too many nested levels of files were found.
