Is there some way I can open pdf files ,for some reason they don't open.I am using windows 2000 professional .I'm sure I've opened them before in the past without a problem.

I have Adobe Reader 8 (formerly called Acrobat Reader or so I have read)this is supposed to allow the reading of PDF files but it doesn't seem to ,in my case.

You might want to check 'Folder Options' -> File Types, and scroll down to the *.pdf extension to see if it is 'associated' w/ Adobe. Folder Options can be found in the 'Control Panel' (at least in XP) or under the 'Tools' menu of Windows Explorer.

Also, you might want to give Foxit Reader (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php) a try - just a 2 MB download which is my default PDF reader on all of my computers - fast & effective - good luck.

Hi giradman
thanks for your advice,I checked folder options and pdf is shown under file type as ...opens with Word.Incidentally trying to open windows explorer ,I keep getting My Documents every time I try to open it,it doesn't seem to be where it should be.I have accessed it before without problem.I am going to try Foxit Reader like you suggested
