truly amazing

after many months of waiting 5 minutes for my vista machine to boot, i finally fixed the problem. im just not positive on how. ive narrowed it down to a couple things.

1. i uninstalled all the language packs i had my pc. that seemed to help alot.

2. vista sp1. even though it was a pre-beta and failed to completley install, it may still have helped.

Im so glad this is fixed now, i was afraid to turn off my pc because of how long it took to boot.

That is indeed truly amazing. I dont think the Windows Vista SP1 Beta has been released to MSDN and TechNet subscribers yet and it's certainly not available as a public download from Microsoft.

Go to Control Panel>Regional and Language Options>Keyboards and Languages tab. Click the "Install/Uninstall Languages" button.

According to the Windows Help files: "The Display language section will only be visible if you have already installed a LIP or if your edition of Windows supports MUI. MUI packs are only available in Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Enterprise."

Cougar62 - thanks for the clarification about a potential Vista SP1 release - just bought a new laptop w/ Vista Business installed - after connecting to the internet, 21 updates were DOWNLOADED! Wow - not sure what a SP1 will add? Any new 'features' being offered?
