Talking a few eggs short of a dozen

I over heard two older ladies talking, and the one said to the other that, "her daughter was a few eggs short of a dozen."

Got me to thinking...

Can you think of any other ways to express this same thought?

and
All foam, no beer.

A few bits short of a byte.
A few cents short of a dollar.
There is smoke but no fire.
A few crayons shy of a box.
ID10T issues.
Your speaking but I just can't hear anything.
An hourglass filled with air.
A few carrots short of a bushel.
A few grams shy of a carat.

Do I need a license to operate this thing? YES!

I vote for "a sandwich short of a picnic" as the best one, LOL!
