oh boy did I make a huge mistake. I was trying to remove a unwanted extension in vista and it would not let me so I stupidly told it to set all extensions back to default. Biggest mistake ever made (this century) now rundll32 is having major problems when ever i connect something into the usb port 386 the virutal device driver is an unknown application and basically all extensions are out of whack. I did system restore back to the date before i did this and IT still had the rundll32 errors and I dont know what to do help!!:dizzy:

I am not sure if I have the right board but the reason I posted here is cause this is on vista and my computer has a amd dual processor 2 gigs of ram over 500 gigabytes of computer space and a nvidia ge force 7900 gs video card If this is the wrong board can you please put it on the right board. I did not know if it went here hardware or software. thanks!

i'm not sure if this would apply to this, but i had some (.dll) errors, which sounds like you know are the OS files. if you just google fix .dll errors, there are free downloads you can get that fix .dll problems. just thought it would be something you could try.

If I'm understanding the problem correctly, it's that certain types of files have lost their associations with the programs that open them.

Some file extension fixes for Vista can be downloaded from this page (http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/105/1/).

Mr.mccoy is my teacher and also runs his own computer repair business. I told him of my problem he told me what to look up and I fixed it. I would refer demand systems to anyone the owner is great. (this is not an ad I am just saying that the owner of demand systems told me how to fix my computer and now it works) it had nothing to do with me removing that thread it was a conflict with to many anti virus programs and cookie deleters. I installed a new one at the same time i removed the thread.
