Just received a new Dell Latitude laptop w/ Vista installed - last few days I've been trying to understand the new/different features of this new OS - reading the book below (BTW, quite good!) along w/ exploring the computer!

Just finished a chapter that discussed the Vista ReadyBoost - was not even aware of this option when I purchased the new laptop; a feature that instead of using 'page filing' on the hard drive, can extend RAM onto 'flash media' - the options listed are USB drives & SD and CF cards!

I've got 2 MB of RAM of this new Dell, so not sure that I need the extra 'flash' RAM but would be interested in thoughts from others who may have used this option - what kind of flash media work (how about PCMCIA cards?) best & any problems or suggestions - thanks.

Hi giradman, see here (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/sysperf/accelerator.mspx)

ReadyBoost-capable devices can be implemented as USB 2.0 flash drives, Secure Digital (SD) cards, or CompactFlash cards.

Lot's more information for you here (http://blogs.technet.com/askperf/archive/2007/03/29/windows-vista-superfetch-readyboost.aspx) too including more links at the bottom of the page. :D

AnnMarie - thanks for the links - some great information! Not sure that I need this 'ReadyBoost' @ the moment, but great to know that it is an option in Vista.
