Ok, I am taking the advise of a recent PC mag I was looking at... using my old computer as a server/test computer.
I have always wanted to explore Linux on my own machine, so I figure, NOW is the opportunity.
I am currently downloading the most recent version of openSUSE.
I have used Linux before (back in the Mandrake days) while I was in school. Mostly I used it to surf and manage my websites.
Can anyone provide me with the BEST community resource for troubleshooting and optimizing in openSUSE?
Thanks,
BAM

The OpenSuse forums (http://suseforums.net/) probably offer decent support for OpenSuse (at least I hope that is the case).

Ok, that is funny.. you pointed me to THIS forum. Did you do that on purpose. Yes, it seems like some fantastic information for me and other linux users. Fact is, I trust the CTH community to a) respond to my questions until I get the answer I am looking for and b) provide excellent answers.
What did I do before CTH?
Well, honestly alot of what I do now (pull my hair out with problems and troubleshooting) but at least I have a team!!
So far I LOVE openSuSE. She is gentle and sweet. Because I have lived in a firefox environment for years the surfing is completely seamless!! And I love multiple desktops.. and the resource allocation. My system is at least 6 years old and it runs like a champ (well as good as it can with a PIII and 256k. Ouch!). Got the tip for GimpShop too. But, I dont think this machine can handle it.
Still wish I could find something better than Outlook for my mail. I am way too married to that system!! I guess GMail has some fairly robust functionality that could suffice.
Peace all.

Evolution and Thunderbird are two fairly developed email clients. Have you tried either?

I have tried both Evolution and Thunderbird. But, not with the level of functionality I get from Outlook.
And both were tried more than 4 years ago, so I guess I should look into them to see how I like it.
You know if either of them sync with blackberry seemlessly?
Thanks.
