Server 2000 - joing domain

Hi, I am trying to get a number of devices to join a domain managed by Server 2000. The tricky thing is that these are network scanners and therefore have no operating systems.

If I hijack an IP address/host name combination from a PC that is already on the network they communicate OK (scan to Exchange as an email).

How can I create a trusted IP address/hostname combination server side, that I can plug into the scanner? (they have their own host name/IP addresses which is user changeable).

Hope that makes sense...!
