I have Nero OEM suite called Nero Express 6 which claims to enable burning audio/video/photo/data.When I try to burn photos I am given the option only of video/super video/miniature video ,none of these do I want.I want just the photo facility and this is only available with the Nero Burning Rom upgrade! my question is why does it claim to burn photos when clearly it doesn't ,you need to buy an upgrade. Is there any other way of copying photos from the hard drive onto a cd ,that is free?

If you're just "storing the photos on cd, can't you use the "data" mode of writing? I don't use Nero (although I have a copy that came with my last burner).
But if Nero's photo facility is a slideshow authoring program, and thats what you're looking for, check the following link. freeware, album and slideshow creators (http://www.canadiancontent.net/tech/freeware/Album+and+Slideshow+Creators/)

It's not the slideshow facility I want ,it's the ability to take and store photos from the hard drive that were put on with a digicam.
The camera stores the pics(not on a card but internally) this means it's a problem getting them off the pc to take somewhere to get prints done. I looked at this site and it seems to deal with slideshows. Is there a way of me achieving what I am trying to do?

Nero Express will copy the photos from your harddrive and allow you to burn them. But there are a few things you need to understand before you attempt to use software you're not familar with. READ the manual.
There are some initial changes you have to make before using Nero Express. First, make sure your cd burner is being recognized under the menu heading Recorder. If you have only one cd burner, then follow the rest of my instructions below.
First: Are these photos on your harddrive in your computer or a harddrive in the camera? If on your harddrive in your computer, open Nero Express and instead of chosing video, chose Data, then chose DATA disc, for what you want to burn. Photos are data also, just so you know. I too use Nero and this is how I save my photos to cd/dvds.
After you chose Data and click the option to ADD files. Then navigate to the folder where your photos are stored. Highlight all the photos in the folder by right clicking one file you see in the folder, chose select all, then click the Add button. These will be added so you can burn them.
If there are too many photos so the capacity bar at the bottom of nero runs over the amount allow, Nero will prompt you to insert another disk after burning the first disk.

Hi thanks for your help,I got halfway there and got the "Could not perform fixation message"I am using Ricoh MP72 40A as a cd writer maybe this isn't compatible though it has been in the past, some time ago when it worked without a hitch.I reduced the number of photos down to 10 to see if this was an overloading problem but it still occured.

Research says this could be firmware update needed for your drive, or change type of media you're using. Or your drive may need replacing, or Nero needs updating. What version 6 is your Nero?
Mine's version 6.6.16 and Express is 3.x.x

Try a different brand of media, see if you still get the error.
To get version numbers in many programs, with the program open, click the help menu and select "about". The version number should be listed there.

VisionExpress is for making video's.
After you find which version of 6 you have, updates are free at the link below:

The plot thickens now, I can get a successflul burn but when I put the cd in my dvd player to view the photos I've copied the player hangs. After many attempts say about 20 I can open the cd and see the list of files but they won't open,I get the "insert cd" display. I have tried different blank cds after I have tried to burn to them but the result is the same. The dvd player seems to be working in that it will display other discs I put in to see whether the player is faulty.
It only happens with discs that I have burned images to.I do get the "burn success " so the problem doesn't seem to be with Nero any more.
MaDef, not clear what you mean by a different brand of media,my knowledge doesn't go that far, could you please put it in simple terms ,thanks

He means, different brands of media, like whatever brand you are using, try a different brand, such as TDK, Imation, Maxell.......stay away from Memorex. Try using +R's instead of -R's too. I've found +R's work better in standalone players than the -R's or RW's do.
And before when I asked what version of 6 you had, open the program, then in menu bar, select Help, then About Nero. In there it will tell which version of 6 you have. And if you have never updated it, I suggest you do so as it fixes glitches nicely.

Sorry, I mean't exactly what Photolady said, try using a different brand of cd/dvd such as TDK, Verbatim etc.
The plot thickens now, I can get a successflul burn but when I put the cd in my dvd player to view the photos I've copied the player hangs. After many attempts say about 20 I can open the cd and see the list of files but they won't open,I get the "insert cd" display. If the burned cd isn't recognized in another player, try the following:
Empty the programs (nero) cache folder or temp folder. (You may need to open the program and look in the options for it's location.)
close all background applications, and try not to multitask (run other programs) while you burn the cd.
turn down the speed at which you are burning the cd. (even if the cd is rated to be burned at 52x, you generally get better results at slower speeds) I personally never burn cds at more than 24x and dvds at 4x, even though my burners are rated to burn at much higher speeds.
