How do you install programs?

How do our members install programs? How do you keep track of them and the changes they make? Do you store them on the same drive as the OS or a partion? Do you keep a list of installed progams? I really need help in learning a workable process.

i dont know the best way what ido is i have a partition for my os and programs and another partition to save my files to on that partition i have a folder to save all the install exe for the programs i use that way if i have a problem with a program i can uninstall it and reinstall pretty easy also if i need to reinstall the os i dont loose any of my files and i got my programs handy to install i guess there are as many ways as there are people your choice

I have 2 HD's. One has my OS and MS Office and all my files that are stand alone. For example: MS Word Documents, Excel Sheets, AutoCAD files...etc.

My other HD is where I install all my programs. Games, Tweaks and other programs.
