Everytime I put in a game on my Playstation 2 something comes up on my screen saying "Disc Read Error." From looking on other websites I have heard that repairs can be expensive. I have also found other websites saying that repairs can be done by yourself and are quick and easy but they always say that you have to buy something to get to this information. Could anyone help me fix my disc read error problem for my Playstation 2 or tell of other websites that could give me information leading to the cheap and easy repairs to my Playstation 2. Thank you.

How old is the PS2?

You may be able to get the store that you bought it from to replace it if it is not too old.

Also have you tried to contact Sony to see what they suggest doing?

Try turning the playstation on it's right side, then try it. The disc is blue isn't it? A lot of people have that problem, and no one seems to be able to think of a good way around it, rather than slander Sony and say that they've made a subpar system.

Just turn it on it's side, then put the game in. That should make the blue discs work. Some of the Playstation 1 games don't work though. There's nothing you can do about that, it's the disc, not your system.

Now maybe someone can help me with my bios question. Unless no one here even knows what they are talking about.

I am sure that someone knows about a solution to your bios problem. You might want to post it in the hardware section. You will likely get more responses there.

Ask on of the moderators to move the post.

Also try not to be so derrogatory of the people at this site. We are all here to help and some times there are problems that cannot be solved. Try to be a little understanding. ;)

I am an understanding person. I just find it annoying when no one ever knows the answers to my one problem. I always help people with what they need, but I never ask for it in return. It is rather ircksome to not get help when you need it.

In case you care, I figured it out for myself. Thanks to no one.

I appreciate the different replies. I tried several things and as I listened to my son explain how that it got worse and worse I thought it sounded like the laser eye was dirty (or something). So, I told him to run the CD cleaner disk through the machine. And it worked. He says it's doing better but not perfect. He's happy for now. We will probably wind up getting him another sooner or later. Thanks again for all your help.

That's good news Dspollardsr. :)

NeedBiosHelp, it is rather rude to hijack someone's thread. And maybe you have not noticed but this is a forum where people help people on their own time. You can't just force someone to help you.

I'm closing this thread, NeedBiosHelp, if you think we don't help whenever possible, and when members here have the time to help, then I suggest you look for some alternative help!! :(

CTH is totally a voluntary help board, all members who help, do this in THEIR own time, simply because they like to help whenever they can, I'm sure they do not appreciate such comments that you made!! :(
