Just downloading it. Gonna give it a whirl on a spare old HD I have lurking in the back of the drawer.

Cheers Mishy

Tried to upgrade last night. Not able to, must be the servers are swamped. I'll try again later today.

I managed to get the upgrade today. Tried the visual effects thing, I don't think I have a new enough graphics card to run it properly. It was a little jerky, so I went back to the normal setting. Otherwise, alls well.

I ran the upgrade yesterday and it went very well. The only thing it lost was the WEP encryption key for the wireless nic. It took about 5 minutes to fix that problem. Then I tested my Canon Pixma 2000 printer which didn't work very well with Ubuntu 7.04. The printer works GREAT with 7.10. I printed one picture on glossy photo paper and it's a little grainy but still looks pretty good. So far I'm really happy with the upgrade.

Am hoping to install 7.10 in the next couple of days. The last time I tried beryl I found it to be not very smooth even though I have a pretty fast GFX card (8800 GTS). Will be interesting to see how much better it has become.

7.10 does not support Beryl (rather Compiz Fusion, which is essentially the same). But I liked the level of customization available in Beryl. And the Desktop Cube looks better in Beryl.
