Hi, I've tried running Maple Story on VMWare but have not had success.

I downloaded and installed VMWare v6.0.1, created a virtual machine, installed windows XP Pro on it, installed VMWare tools, edited the .vmx file to enable 3d acceleration, downloaded and installed Maple Story. When running Maple Story, Game Guard starts up, but then all I get is a black screen and I get no response from sending "crtl alt del" command. The Virtual Machine just freezes.

The lines of code added were:
mks.enable3d = "TRUE"
svga.vramSize = "67108864"
vmmouse.present = "FALSE"
as instructed in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=372928
I tried with a Video RAM size of 32MB as well with no success.

dxdiag on my host machine shows the following information about my graphics card:

My host machine is a Dell Inspiron 5100 with a Radeon 7500 graphics card, Running Windows XP Pro. It has 512MB RAM, and 2.66 GHz single processor.

My guest machine runs Windows XP Pro, and has 224MB of Memory (I"ve tried up to 384MB but had no success).

Upon boot up, my virtual machine gives the following message:
Failed to Construct OpenGL rendering backend
The 3-D features of the display card will be disabled.

However, when running dxdiag, it claims 3d acceleration is "enabled"

I tried running the test for 3d acceleration but it gives a white screen and freezes.

Note: Maple story requires 3d acceleration in order to work.

If you need any more information, let me know and I'll include it.

Any thoughts what I can do to run Maple Story on VMWare?

why not just run it outside of vm ware?

why not just run it outside of vm ware?

It runs fine on the Physical, but I can't run two instances of it at once unless I run one on the Physical and the other on the Virtual Machine.

I want to be able to run two or more instances of it.

um, just curious here, what need do you have to run more than one? most VMs dont run games very well that ive tried. Just stick to physical.

To have one sit in FM, while I train on the other. Or to party myself, so I can let my char leach from the other. I can't run 2 on the physical itself, so I need to run one on the virtual.

find a cheap 2nd hand computer that can run maple story, its not hard, they throw all sorts of computers out on the streets these days, you only need a Pentium 3 or someting
