Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD hmmmmm

Can someone help me understand the positives of each side?
Right now I can't see any reason for HD-DVD as its smaller in capacity. Blu-Ray has also higher security. It seems that Blu-Ray is much much better.

HD-DVD is significantly cheaper
for disks and players cause its based on the older DVD technology

I think one of them publishers need to play for a license or something (most likely blu ray cause its developed or part developed by sony)

+HD-DVD is region free
-BD has cheaper cost per GB
