I have a new Epson DX4050 and it seems that my cartridges are leaking again. :curse:
It was the same with my previous Epson and I thought it was because I was using compatibles, but this time I am using original Epson cartridges, and the black one seems to leak.
I always make sure that I click the cartridges in the right position but I have ink smeared on one corner of the printed pages. It stops for a while if I clean the heads (it uses a lot of ink to do that though) but start again after a while.
Why have I got that black smudge appearing in one corner of my printed papers from time to time? Is it the cartridges or something else?

It sounds like the rubber O-ring may have stuck to the bottom of
one of thecartridges and is no longer where the cartridge seats.
Take out the black cartridge and look in the print head to see if
it is there.
O-rings will have to be ordered direct from epson.

You also might try cleaning the little dump station. If it gets full of ink, it smears pages. Use a clean paper towel and dab the inkwell until it appears to be less, may take a few paper towels, but I've fixed my old Epson 1270 when this occurred.

Thank you. strange that I had the problem on two printers.
I will follow your suggestions and see from there.
