Need a hand with Lilo

Howdy, I am currently running Lilo due to no windows Boot disk ( Copy I have won't boot from disk ) I can get Lilo ( Ubuntu ) running, Login, Everytime I try to mount the CDrom so I can install windows.. Says only "root" can do that. I am trying to get Windows XP back on this computer. Any help would be wonderful!

Windows XP needs to be the first OS on the drive. You'll need to put in the XP disk, reboot and reformat/partition then re-install XP. After XP is installed you can reinstall Ubuntu. This time I would choose GRUB as your boot loader.

I completely wiped the HD, It has no OS on there. I installed the Lilo ( Ubuntu ) since my Windows disk is not a Bootable disc. I tried to use the other one from my other laptop, however it's Vista, doesn't like the older computer. Just trying to see if I can get it running through Lilo or something of that nature.. I just wanna get back to XP LOL.. Linux confuses me! lol.. Thanks

Do you mean that your Windows XP disk is non-bootable? Does your laptop have a CDROM drive? If so, you should be able to reboot with your Windows XP disk in the drive and proceed to install XP.
