Question How to download photo file from email?

When someone sends me a photo attachment to an email that only shows up as a file name, NOT as a photo, how do I download it?
What I've tried so far: Rightclicking, and leftclicking on the file name, when the box comes up to ask if I want to save it or open it, I've done both. My question is--Where does it go then? How do I access it? After I do both of those things, the photo never appears, but it seems like something is happening, like it is being downloaded somewhere???
Thank you!

If you're using Outlook Express and let it save an attachment wherever it wants, it'll be in a strange folder buried pretty deep in the file structure.

So, when you right click it and choose Save, a window should open allowing you to navigate to the folder where you want it saved to. Use the drop-down list near the top of that window to navigate to whatever folder you keep pictures. Once you have that folder open and the file named what you want, click the Save button.

If you right click and choose Open, once it has opened in whatever program you use to view pictures, click File>Save As. You'll get the same sort of window allowing you to name it whatever you want and to navigate to the folder where you want to save it.

Once you have the attachment saved to a folder where you'll be able to find it again, you can delete the email and its attachment without losing the saved picture.

Can't view attachments

Thank you for answering my question; however, when I choose "open", nothing happens. It doesn't open anywhere. When I choose "download", it does it without asking me where I'd like it to be save to. Any suggestions? My friends don't have the same problem.

From my homepage of Yahoo, I click on the "email" logo, that takes me to Yahoo email. The Outlook Express email address that I am emailing you on now is not the one I use for friends. I use the Yahoo one.

normally all you have to do is to open the email, at the top is the attachment link beside something that looks like a paperclip, click on it, it will scan for a virus and once thats done, it will ask you whether or not you want to download it.

I'm not familiar with how Yahoo mail works but here's what I'd try.

Make sure you know the name of the picture file, then use the Download option.

Then use Windows' search feature (on the Start Menu) and tell it to search the hard drive for that file name. Wherever it's found is where those downloaded pictures get sent by default.
